Easy Ways to Treat Gingivitis At Home

Gingivitis is a mild reversible form of gum disease. It can sometimes be managed without a trip to the dentist if it is in the early stages. Even though a professional dental cleaning is a good first step in the process, there are several other effective ways to treat this problem in your home.

Simple Ways for Treating Gingivitis

One of the best ways to treat a condition like gingivitis is to begin a complete oral hygiene routine at home. You can use a variety of oral hygiene products together that will be effective for a fast and easy way to treat a mild gingivitis in your own bathroom. You will find that different products will complement one another in the care of your gums. This regime is a terrific way to treat gingivitis using several readily available hygiene products.

Regimen for Treating Gingivitis

1. Antibacterial toothpaste: Antibacterial toothpastes from Crest and Colgate are accepted by the American Dental Association (ADA). These pastes come in several flavors and help treat gingivitis while also stopping tartar buildup. Using these toothpastes regularly will help remove stain and plaque. This is a great benefit in preventing cavities, bad breath and gum disease.

2. Antibacterial mouth rinse: Using an antibacterial rinse before and after brushing reduces plaque buildup. Additionally it will help in preventing and reducing gingivitis and frequent bad breath.

3. Electric toothbrush:  Studies have shown that electric toothbrushes remove more plaque than manual brushes for the average brusher. Electric brushes promote healthier gums and can get to hard to reach areas which helps in the treatment of gingivitis.

4. Floss : Using an easy to use floss such as Glide or any waxed floss will help in removing food, bacterial film and plaque that causes gingivitis. Instead of flossing, you could use a small sulcular brush to get between teeth and under gums.
